COUGARS GET BACK ON TRACK, BLOW OUT PASSAIC
The win improves Camden to 5-1, sets the stage for matchup with #2 Salem
Blackwood, NJ -- Camden roll past Passaic in blowout win
The Camden CC men's basketball team (5-1) delivered a strong performance in a blowout win this past Saturday, beating Passaic CC (2-5) 69-50.
The Cougars offense came out the gates firing, racing out to a 11-4 run to start the contest. Their prowess on both ends was evident from the beginning, with Passaic struggling to produce points and halt the Cougars attack. Their largest lead of the half got up to 16 points. Ultimately, CCC was able to sustain the lead they created, going into halftime up 38-24.
In the 2H, not much changed as the Cougars executed their game plan on both ends, holding PCCC's leading scorer to just 4 total points while adding 31 2H points.
Freshman Guard, Zha'Mere Crawford (Wilmington, DE) and Sophomore Forward Mikey Campbell (Fayetteville, NC) combined for 30 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Crawford is starting to string together strong performances after missing a few games to start the season. Campbell is doing the same, delivering steady performances in his return from injury.
Overall, several Cougars contributed to the overall win with 18 points coming from the bench unit.
Head Coach Lou Abbattista praised his team's effort, noting that disciplined defense was the difference down the stretch. Despite a young roster, the Cougars showed resilience and maturity following their first loss to Montgomery last week.
Camden will look to build on this momentum as they head into a big-time matchup with #2 ranked Salem Community College on Tuesday, November 25th at 6PM.
