Cougars win second game in a row
Blackwood, NJ -- Cougars roll to blowout road victory
CCC MBB (11-6) delivered an emphatic performance on Tuesday night, rolling past Ocean County College (11-7) 75–53 in a comprehensive victory that showcased strength on both ends of the floor.
Camden set the tone with aggressive defense and crisp execution offensively which allowed them to jump out to an early lead. The Cougars would never look back, outpacing the Vikings in scoring, rebounding, and energy throughout the rest of the game.
Camden's offense was well-balanced, with four Cougars contributing at least nine points to the overall scoring tally.
The bench played a large role in the commanding victory, as key reserves got their opportunity to make an impact. Overall, the bench contributed 24 points and 15 rebounds. The strong effort from the reserves maintained the Cougars offensive rhythm and allowed them to wear down the Ocean defense.
Defensively, Camden smothered Ocean's offense, and contributed to their 16 total turnovers. On the other end -- The Cougars' defensive pressure on the perimeter disrupted Ocean's offensive rhythm as they shot just 35% from the field and 14% from distance.
Camden's intensity on the defensive glass also shut down second-chance points, allowing the Cougars to control pace and convert timely baskets. Their collective effort helped build a lead that Ocean County was unable to overcome.
Freshman Forward, Istavan Norwood (Dover, DE) had a strong outing, registering his second double-double of the season and career. He added 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The win improves Camden County's record and bolsters confidence as the season progresses. With contributions up and down the roster. The Cougars demonstrated they can win in a variety of ways — whether it's through a dominant inside presence, effective perimeter shooting, or tenacious defense.
The Cougars (11-6) will now prepare to travel to Brookdale CC on Thursday, 1/22. Tip-off will be at 7:00pm.
