CAMDEN WIN BIG ON THE ROAD, 71-49
Cougars improve to 8-3 in R19 play
Blackwood, NJ -- Cougars roll past Passaic 71-49
CCC MBB (12-8) turned in a complete road performance on Thursday night, earning a convincing 71–49 victory over Passaic County Community College (4-17).
Camden started the contest focused, looking to get back in the win column after a recent setback in their last matchup. The Cougars calling card, their defense, disrupted PCCC's rhythm for a large portion of the game, leading to turnovers that fueled a steady transition attack.
As a result, by the midpoint of the first half, Camden was able to build the requisite amount of momentum and string strong plays together, eventually taking a 34-27 lead going into halftime.
CCC continued to control the game after half, extending their lead with outstanding defense. Their press bothered Passaic, forcing them into turnovers that Camden capitalized on.
Strong defensively play carried over to the offensive side of the ball for the Cougars all game as they continually scored in transition off of their opponent's mistakes. They also shared the ball well on that end (15 total assists) and consistently found quality looks at the basket in the half court as well.
Passaic County struggled to generate consistent offense as Camden maintained its defensive intensity throughout the second half, culminating to just 22 second-half points for Passaic and a 22-point win.
Ayden Copestick (Deptford, NJ) was hot from distance, knocking down 4-6 shots. Copestick finished the game with 14 points.
Istavan Norwood (Dover, DE) & Zha'Mere Crawford (Wilmington, DE) combined for 22 points, 16 rebounds & 8 assists while shooting 11-20 from the field.
The 71–49 triumph highlighted Camden's potential on the defensive side of the ball as well as their depth. CCC scored 25 total bench points in this contest and out-rebounded Passaic 38-20 as a unit. Their ability to execute on the road and stay locked in defensively proved to be the difference.
With the victory, CCC improves to 8-3 in Region XIX play as the season continues to progress. The Cougars will look to carry that same focus and intensity into their next matchup.
CCC MBB (12-8) will now head to North Jersey tomorrow to face off against Bergen. Tip-off is scheduled for 2pm.
