CAMDEN MBB FALTER LATE, SUFFER LOSS AT GLOUCESTER
Cougars see their four game win streak come to an end
Blackwood, NJ -- Cougars fall in tight one on the road at Gloucester
CCC MBB (15-9) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Thursday, falling to longtime rival Rowan College of South Jersey–Gloucester (8-18) in a competitive conference matchup.
Entering the contest, the Cougars had built significant momentum, stringing together four consecutive victories, headlined by their defense. The matchup against Gloucester carried added intensity, as the two programs renewed a familiar rivalry in a game that featured physical play and a high-energy atmosphere.
Although Camden was down a key starter due to injury, that did not deter the group as they came out the gate looking to perform on the road and extend their current streak.
While Camden generated quality offensive looks and worked to control the tempo throughout the 1H, Gloucester was ready to compete on their home floor and stymied the Cougars offense. Ultimately, after an up and down quarter, the Roadrunners headed into the break leading 38-31.
In the 2H, the Cougars found their offense, scoring 45 points and outscoring Gloucester by 4. However, despite Camden's efforts to create and sustain a lead, the halftime deficit proved too much to overcome.
Despite the loss, Freshman Forward, Istavan Norwood (Dover, DE) set new career/season highs in points scored (31) while also securing 8 rebounds. Norwood finished 10-16 from the field and 11-13 from the FT line.
Zha'Mere Crawford (Wilmington, DE) added 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
While the result ending the Cougars' recent surge, Camden is still in prime position to improve their overall record with five games remaining on the schedule.
The Cougars (15-9) return to action on Saturday, February 6th as they seek retribution against Union County College (19-6) after an early season loss. Tip of is scheduled at noon.
