CAMDEN MBB DEALT 77-62 LOSS
Short-handed Cougars suffer just third home loss all season
Blackwood, NJ -- Cougars suffer third home loss
CCC MBB (17-11) dropped a 77–62 decision to #8 Northampton Community College (23-4) last Saturday in a region matchup that featured two eventual playoff teams.
Camden, still relatively short-handed and dealing with injuries, came out the gate competing on the defensive end, looking to establish a presence in the paint. They worked the ball inside early and took advantage of transition opportunities. Northampton, however, found success inside and took advantage of the Cougars mistakes, eventually allowing them to create a 39-30 lead going into the half.
In the 2H, the under-manned Cougars continued to battle, keeping the game within striking distance throughout most of the half. Timely baskets helped Camden stay close, trimming the deficit to as little as five points with less than five minutes remaining.
However, despite the timely scoring by the Cougars and defensive pressure, Northampton responded with a late game run of their own. They strung together multiple scoring possessions and converted at the FT line, thus extending their lead to double digits.
The Cougars would end up scoring thirty-two 2H points to Northampton's thirty-eight, culminating in the home loss.
Kai Gatson (New Castle, DE) finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists & 2 steals.
With one game remaining on the regular-season schedule, the Cougars will look to regroup and finish strong. The Cougars (17-11) host Mercer County Community College (15-11) on Tuesday, February 17th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
