For the 9th consecutive year the Cougars Men's Soccer Team traveled north to Herkimer, NY for the NJCAA DIII National Championship Tournament. The Cougars received the #4 seed for the tournament and would face #5 Nassau in the quarterfinals. Going into the 2nd half of the quarterfinals the Cougars trailed Nassau 1-0. Very quickly in the 2nd half that would change as Vincent Petulla would head in a beautiful cross to tie the game up at 1-1 and then the Cougars would get a free kick that the Nassau goalie would miss play and Fr. Arda Erden would blast into the back of the net for the game winner and allow the Cougars to advance to the National Semifinals to square off with a familiar opponent.
In the National Semifinals, the Cougars would square off with #1 seed Richland who less than 5 month ago the Cougars played and unfortunately lost to in the National Championship Game by a score of 1-0. In this years National Semifinals the 2 powerhouses put on another classic Championship Tournament Match. Unfortunately once again the Cougars would fall to the Thunderducks by a score of 3-1.
The Cougars finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 14-2-2 in Head coach Matt Perrella's first year at the helm.
