CAMDEN WBB BOUCE BACK, WIN BIG AT OCEAN
Lady Cougars balanced effort lead to triumph
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars roll to blowout win
CCC WBB (8-8) delivered an impressive performance on the road, up-ending Ocean County College (1-13) 78–46 in a NJCAA Region XIX matchup.
After a slow start offensively, Camden's offense improved as the game progressed while their defense limited Ocean and set the tone for the rest of the matchup. Their effort on both sides of the ball allowed them to control the game and build a comfortable lead, propelling them to the lop-sided victory.
While Camden was outscored 15-5 in the 1Q, the Lady Cougars returned the favor, outscoring Ocean 20-4 in the second. Their scoring attack was balanced while their defensive effort was disciplined and relentless, contributing to 34 total turnovers for the Vikings. As a result of their strong play on both sides of the ball, the Vikings were on their heels throughout the contest.
After the break, the strong play persisted for the Lady Cougars as they continued sharing the ball effectively and creating scoring opportunities with their defense. Ocean once again struggled to score in the 3Q, as they were held to a single-digit point total. Going into the 4Q, Camden held a 55-28 lead.
Steady and consistent play during the 4Q allowed the Cougars to finish on the road with the double-digit win.
Key contributions from multiple Cougars helped Camden control the tempo and maintain a significant advantage in the paint and on the perimeter. Ocean County struggled to convert consistently against Camden's stifling defensive pressure, which led to turnovers and fast-break points.
Freshman Guard, Angela Karamasakis (Washington, Township, NJ) was outstanding, registering her first career double-double of the season and career, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Forward, Jamyra Green (Somerdale, NJ) added 16 points, 6 rebounds 3 assists and a steal.
This commanding win highlights CCC WBB's growing confidence and cohesion while demonstrating their ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
The Lady Cougars (8-8) will now prepare to travel to Brookdale CC on Thursday, 1/22. Tip-off will be at 5:00pm.
