Lady Cougars win big for second straight road victory
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars dominate, win second straight road game
CCC WBB (9-8) continued its strong play away from home on Thursday night, earning an impressive 80–42 victory over Brookdale County College (9-7). The win marks Camden's second consecutive road victory.
The Lady Cougars forced turnovers, controlled the boards and also pushed the tempo. Their overall effort had the Jersey Blues on their heels for most of the contest, unable to stop the momentum.
Camden came out the gate focused and disciplined, thus creating a small advantage after the 1Q. However, it was the Lady Cougars play on both sides of the ball that propelled them in the second and allowed them to build a commanding 49-24 lead going into halftime.
Going into the second half, both offenses stalled substantially with Camden scoring just 8 points in the 3Q to Brookdale's 11. Nonetheless, the defensive effort for the Lady Cougars remained formidable which allowed them to control the game and still head into the 4Q owning a double-digit lead.
To start the 4Q, the Lady Cougars found their offense, scoring 23 total points. Their defense was palpable and continued to pose major issues for Brookdale. The Jersey Blues finished the 4Q with their lowest point total of the entire matchup (7 points).
Overall, Brookdale scored just 24 total points in the first half and 18 in the second.
The freshman guard duo of Anissa Spurlock (Willingboro, NJ) & Angela Karamasakis (Washington Township, NJ) were sensational in the match-up.
Spurlock netted 21 points on 10-20 shooting along with 7 assists and career-high 12 steals.
Karamasakis added 17 points, 6 assists & 5 rebounds.
Camden's depth was also a key factor in the win as the reserves produced 20 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists and 6 steals.
With the 80–42 victory, Camden continues to build confidence on the road and demonstrate its ability to perform in challenging environments. The Lady Cougars will look to carry this momentum forward as it prepares for the upcoming 4-game road slate.
The Lady Cougars (9-8) travel to Atlantic Cape on Saturday, January 24th. Tip-off will be at Noon.
