CAMDEN WBB SECURE STATEMENT WIN, 63-52
Lady Cougars impress, beat R19 leading Passaic
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars secure impressive road win
CCC WBB (10-8) delivered one of its most impressive performances of the season, knocking off first-place Passaic County Community College (14-3) by double digits in a statement road victory.
Facing region leading Passaic, Camden controlled the game early on both sides of the floor. They applied consistent defensive pressure, forced tough possessions and limited PCCC's scoring opportunities as they were held to just eight 1Q points.
While PCCC settled in offensively in the 2Q of play, Camden was still able to go into halftime with a 30-28 lead.
However, the Lady Cougars were undeterred and had another strong defensive quarter, holding Passaic to single-digit points again. This was the seventh time this season Camden's defense forced multiple single-digit scoring quarters in one game
The double-digit win serves as a major confidence boost for Coach Reitano and his squad as they continue to play well away from home.
Sophomore Guard, Erica Paranzino (Washington Township, NJ) had a very strong outing, scoring 19 points on 50% shooting from the field and 3-pt line. Paranzino also added 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal & block.
Freshman Guard, Anissa Spurlock (Willingboro, NJ) finished with a near double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Spurlock also registered 3 steals.
Clara Pons de vall Ruiz (Vilassar De Mar, Spain) also almost finished with a double-double (9 points, 11 rebounds).
With the victory, CCC WBB continues to improve their overall record as the season winds down and conference play intensifies.
The Lady Cougars (10-8) will now head to North Jersey tomorrow to face off against Bergen CC. Tip-off is scheduled for Noon.
