Lady Cougars win 4th straight at home
Blackwood, NJ -- Lady Cougars win fourth straight home game
CCC WBB (12-8) continued its upward momentum with a convincing 74-49 victory over Sussex County Community College (5-15), claiming its third straight win. The Lady Cougars have now won four straight home games.
Camden showcased a well-rounded overall performance in the wire-to-wire victory with multiple players contributing to the scoring effort. The Lady Cougars penetrated the Skylanders' defense early and never looked back, building a lead that steadily grew throughout the game, ultimately cruising to the home win.
After a strong start to the contest, Camden faltered in the 2Q as Sussex cut into the deficit, applying real game pressure. Although, the Lady Cougars scored just 8 points in the quarter, they were eventually able to halt the Skylanders momentum and go into the break with a slim, one-point margin, 29-28.
Furthermore, after halftime, Camden came out with a new-found level of intensity and focus. They regained their offensive prowess, outscoring Sussex by 11 in the 3Q to re-build their lead and reclaim control of the contest. Overall, the Lady Cougars out-scored the Skylanders by a total of 24 points in the 2H.
Camden moved the ball with precision, leading to quality opportunities from three-point range and in the paint. Overall, the Lady Cougars registered 26 total assists which is their 6th time surpassing the 25 assist mark this season.
Sophomore Guard, Clara Pons de vall Ruiz (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) stuffed the stat sheet, registering a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists & 5 steals).
Freshman Guard, Anissa Spurlock (Willingboro, NJ) continued her strong play, contributing a double-double in her own right with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists & 4 steals. This is her third game in a row registering at least 3 steals.
The reserves also scored 21 points with Freshman Guard, Ashley Stanz (Blackwood, NJ) and Jamyra Green (Somerdale, NJ) each contributing 11 points.
With this win, Camden continues to trend upward with just four games remaining on their schedule.
The Lady Cougars (12-8) will now turn their attention to Thursday as they attempt to extend their winning streak and take on rival, Gloucester (14-6). Tip-off is scheduled for 5PM.
